FOOD! I eat almost anything so being around hospital food is no big deal. But I notice hospital dieticians seem to take a different approach. They serve plenty of healthy food to sick people but taste; well that is a different story. Now I understand the blandness and reasoning behind that; however, sick people seem to eat very little. They tend to nibble at their food. Yet the kitchen sends three full meals a day. And I notice dieticians follow up to see if people are eating any of their food. Now that got me to thinking.
Dieticians are smarter than a lot of Christians. How many Christians really pay attention to the spiritual food they are eating? The Bible says, “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, (1 Peter 2:2 NIV). Are we really consuming the spiritual food of the Word of God in such proportions that we remain spiritually healthy? Or do we just nibble at the Word of God like sick people do at their hospital food. Eventually sick people usually get well and eat well. Should we not pay attention to our feasting habits on the Word of God to make sure we remain spiritually healthy? Jesus said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God,” (Matthew 4:4 NIV). Eat healthy.
