FRIENDS. The book of Proverbs 18:24 says, “A man who has friends must himself be friendly” (NKJV). My wife Millie has lots of friends. She’s very friendly, willing to talk to just about anyone, and not shy to talk about Jesus. While some people leave a wake of destruction in their paths Millie seems to leave a wake of friends. She makes me proud in a good way. We all know people who just seem to gather friends everywhere they go. That is a great thing to experience in life. I hope it is your experience.

Whether we want to admit it or not all of us have an innate desire to have lots of friends. I meet very few people who just don’t care whether they have friends or not. And most of them are very unhappy. I believe all of us would like or desire to have a few very good friends. I count myself fortunate to have good friends spread all around the world. I would pray all of us would have lots of good friends. But whether we have good friends or not I believe really depends on us and our actions. After all if you want friends you must show yourself to be friendly. Now some will say, “Well that’s just not my nature.” To that I would say, “Work on it and change. God can help you.”

The Bible speaks of people who were great friends to others and I think we can learn from them. Barnabas was a great friend to many people and made a great impact on the world through befriending other people like the Apostle Paul. You can read about him and his relationship with Paul in the book of Acts. While you are in the bible look at the relationship between David and Jonathan, Moses and Aaron, Elijah and Elisha, Naomi and Ruth and Jesus and the Disciples. True Christian friends can make a great impact for God. And blessed is the man or woman who has many friends. If you want to make an impact for God then make friends.
