THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE AND OUR TIME SPAN!

May 11, 2018

THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE AND OUR TIME SPAN! Another thing to note about the sanctity of human life being established by creation is this: God Is The Ultimate Judge of Length of Life. “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” (Psalm 139:16 NIV). God knows how long we will live before we are born. God is the ultimate judge of the length of life.  God’s authority & control over the length of a person’s life has not arbitrarily been passed on to human beings. No matter what man’s intellect may be, no matter what science says, no matter the condition of human life man is not to be the decider of the length of another human being’s life.

Yet, way too often, we see the government, doctors, do-gooders, insurance companies, families and other people and institutions attempting and often succeeding in determining the length of human life. All of us must admit that the day and age in which we live is far more complicated and complex than all of the generations before us. But if we truly believe in the sanctity of human life we must do all we can to ensure the dignity and value of each human being. The bible is clear that there is a time to be born and a time to die (Eccl. 3:2) but God is the ultimate determiner of both of those events not human beings.

I do not have all the answers to all the questions and discussions about the sanctity of human life but I know the one who does and He has written a book, the Bible, to give us guidance and direction concerning these matters. As we study the book let us be open to the Holy Spirit’s guidance and let us seek in whatever way we can to be promoters of the sanctity and dignity of human life. Let us confess our failures in this area to God and let us commit our future to helping in establishing the dignity of human life in our society.
