A TRUE SERVANT OF GOD IS REWARDED!
A TRUE SERVANT OF GOD IS REWARDED. “Therefore God exalted him (Jesus) to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11 NIV). Jesus came as a servant to die on the cross for us. But Jesus is coming back as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. And every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord. There is no glory without the cross. There is no crown without the suffering. There is no reign of glory without the humble service on earth.
And we need to remember that because of our service as servants we will be rewarded also. ”Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV). “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers” (Galatians 6:7-10 NIV).
It is difficult at times to keep on keeping on. It is hard at times to serve those who despise you, disrespect you and even curse you. Jesus faced those same kinds of people. But there is a payday someday. And if we keep to the task of serving God and serving people we will also share in the ultimate reward of ruling and reigning with Jesus. None of us have a greater honor in life than being a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. And we need to bear this in mind,
“Non-Christians typically have five or more significant encounters with the gospel before coming into a relationship with Jesus Christ.” “And non-Christians usually won’t come to us to find God. We have to go to them.” What we have been reflecting on for the past few days are important concepts on servanthood for all of us to grasp. And then we need to roll up our sleeves and get to work serving the lost people around us.
