MAN MADE DANGERS TO AVOID IN THE STUDY OF GOD’S OMNIPRESENCE #3. The third greatest fallacy of human reasoning regarding the reflection on God’s Omnipresence as found in Psalm 139:7-12 is what is called Atheism. Atheists.org gives us this definition of “Atheism”: “Atheism is a lack of belief in gods, from the original Greek meaning of “without gods.” That is it. There is nothing more to it. If someone wrote a book titled, “Atheism Defined,” it would only be one sentence long.” So to the Atheist God does not exist. Atheists are people without God. They don’t believe in any kind of god, Christian or otherwise. So if God doesn’t exist then He could not possibly be present anywhere in the universe let alone in all the universe at one time. So why does the perceived non-existence of God bother Atheists so much that they are continually fighting against God if God doesn’t exist? Is it because they object to us believing in God?
From this Atheistic view of life comes “humanism” which says, “Everyone is his own god.” And our society is overflowing with people with that view. Someone has given this simple definition of Humanism, “The definition of humanism is a belief that human needs and values are more important than religious beliefs, or the needs and desires of humans. An example of humanism is the belief that the person creates their own set of ethics.” And in light of Atheism and Humanism you can begin to see why our world is in a mess. If God is nowhere around or if He is around but doesn’t really deserve consideration in our thinking of morals or ethics then the obvious outcome is the world as we see it today.
But Christians are different. We do believe in a revealed revelation from God called the Bible. We do believe in the revealed person of God in the Lord Jesus Christ. And we do believe in the revealed dwelling of God in us in the person of the Holy Spirit. God’s revealed Word does give us a different view of the presence of God in this world. So we now find ourselves ready to look at Psalm 139:7-12 and reflect on the Omnipresence of God. On the next post; we want to see “Realities To Acknowledge About The Omnipresence of God.”
