THE LIVING HOPE INHERITANCE CONTINUED! “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time”
(1 Peter 1:3-5 NIV).
Our inheritance in heaven will never FADE. The Greek word means, “unfading, perennial.” Over the years Millie and I have planted some flowers on the grounds of the churches where we served. And we have done the same at our homes. One thing I have noticed. They really looked good and then the fall & winter season came and they faded. So replanting was required as the seasons changed. Even in Florida that is true. Things here on earth just fade away. The scholars tell us that the Greek word used here for “unfading” is a variation of the name of a mythical flower whose bloom was perpetual and whose loveliness never faded. That’s exactly the way our inheritance will be in heaven. Our inheritance will never perish, spoil or fade because of the Living Hope the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our inheritance is safely KEPT in heaven for us. The Greek word for “kept” means, “to watch, to observe, to guard, protect, to reserve, to set aside.” Our inheritance is safely guarded in heaven. No one can take it from us. Satan himself can’t steal it away. All of us have probably had valuable things stolen from us here in this world. That will not happen in heaven. God has our inheritance waiting safe and secure for our arrival in our heavenly home. There will be no people in heaven to steal what rightly belongs to us. There will be no government to take what rightly belongs to us. People will not defraud and abuse us in heaven. What Jesus has purchased through His blood on our behalf will be there waiting on us on that wonderful glorious day when we go to be with Him. More to come on this topic.
